In light of John Hopfield recent prize, this could be mentioned: https://longnow.org/ideas/richard-feynman-and-the-connection-machine/. ReyHahn (talk) 12:18, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Domestic violence towards Mary Louise Bell

[edit]

According to his FBI file which cites the Los Angeles Times 7.18.56 his divorce from Mary Louise Bell was granted due to domestic violence. See page 64:

Yes, in fact he "flew into a violent rage, during which time he choked her, threw pieces of bric-a-brac about and smashed the furniture" when she had disturbed him (on several occasions) from "working calculus constantly in his head" or "playing his African drums" (allegedly his only hobby). He does sound a trifle difficult to live with. Should this be added? But isn't that source WP:PRIMARY? Martinevans123 (talk) 17:49, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Depends if newspapers.com covers the LA times that far back.©Geni (talk) 18:04, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Another secondary (tertiary) source at slate.©Geni (talk) 18:16, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That source seems a perfectly good one to support addition of these details. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:38, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would support adding something about it per the Slate article. Spookyaki (talk) 19:18, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The use of primary sources is fine, but the Slate source (a secondary source) is preferred. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:37, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The material gives the allegations made by Bell, with no rebuttal by Feynman, and certainly no view by any independent third party? Martinevans123 (talk) 20:15, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
